Here are some simple bathroom remodel ideas to increase the value of your home when preparing to sell your home or to just enjoy it more yourself.

1. Keep the shower and bathtub separate for added value.

2. For a small bathroom remodel use large or floor to ceiling mirrors to make the room feel bigger.

3. Consider a fresh coat of paint. Wallpaper one wall in a bright or ornate wallpaper. Update with new towel bars or new cabinet hardware. Buy towel bars that have several bars in one unit.

4. Bathroom remodel with neutral colors for paint, tiles, flooring and fixtures.

5. Hide toiletries in pretty storage containers. Buy a few scented candles and a large wicker laundry basket.

6. Remove soap scum, lime scale and grime from the bath tub with Vim Cream. Use an old toothbrush to scrub clean faucets and grimy grout.

7. Buy a new shower curtain. Add some fluffy hand and bath towels stacked in a large basket with soaps and lotions.

Bathroom Remodel Design

Three levels of remodeling are discussed here in order of increasing cost. The cost of the appliances purchased for a remodeling project can vary extremely. There are sinks, tubs, toilets and faucets that can cost a lot of money!

1. Surface Alterations for a Simple Cheap Bathroom Remodel
Paint it yourself.
Buy a pre-fabricated shower unit.
Do not move the plumbing.
Unscrew the vanity countertop and take it to a countertop store to have a new replacement countertop built. Installing it is just the reverse steps to removing it. The sink can be removed by unthreading the pipes to the taps and the drain line.
Install the new toilet yourself. It is easy! Really.Repaint the tub. Yes, it can be done but investigate what paint to use or hire a painter that knows how to do it.

2. Change the Layout of the Bathroom
This assumes a good underlying structure of the room. Changing the layout will require a plumber and an electrician.

3. Complete Remodel for the Most Expensive Bathroom Remodel
This usually involves replacing wallboard at least and could involve replacing floor joists and wall studs as well as changing all the fixtures.

Small Bathroom Remodel Ideas

1. Use soft colors for the walls.
2. Accent with color.
<3. Use visual accents like a mural of open space.
4. Use light tones for the flooring: tan, light grey, light blue.
5. A Pedestal sink looks great and gives about 10% more space.
6. Classic fixtures with simple design and smooth surfaces.
7. Install additional lighting fixtures.
8. Increase the amount of natural light with a new window or a skylight.
9. Limit the number of items in the room.
10.Store some items outside the bathroom in a small storage cabinet in the hall.
11.Add mirrors to the room.
12.De-clutter: put your bathroom things in the cabinet.

Popular Bathroom Counter Tops

Be careful with products like nail polish remover that can damage any countertop.
Quartz: very durable, will not absorb water or dyes present in bathroom products.
Laminate: affordable with many colors available.
Concrete: unique look, can embody sinks of any size or shape.

Toilets

Low flow toilets can save up to 30% of water use. There are also dual flush toilets. Yes, a small flush for water plus urine and a larger flush for that other one. Some municipal governments give a grant for these toilets.

Tubs/Showers

If you are moving an old tub in your renovation or installing a new one check to make certain that the supporting structure under the floor is strong enough.

Sinks/Faucets

Check before you buy to see if the new fixture will fit the old holes. Shallow sinks need higher spouts; otherwise you will not have room for your hands in the sink. Low flow shower heads can save up to 30% of the water normally used.

Bathroom Flooring Ideas

How many bathrooms have ceramic tile floors today? In my experience as a real estate agent since 1985 almost all have some form of tile floor today or are quickly remodeling to tile. Tile is what buyers are looking for. When replacing the flooring consider installing a heated floor for ultimate comfort. The heat can be supplied by electrical wires in the floor. Use non-slip tiles. Visit a tile store and get some free estimates for your renovation.

Vinyl flooring ideas
Vinyl is the most popular choice for bathroom flooring. Vinyl tiles can be installed in a weekend. There are many of style options.
Vinyl tiles will probably lift after some time. Sheet vinyl is hard to install for the home remodeler but it is cheap.

Stone flooring ideas

Stone with stands moisture well. Stone is reasonable in price.but it cold and sometimes slippery. Slate is not slippery.

Engineered wood flooring ideas

Engineered wood has a plywood base that holds up well against moisture. Wood does not like water! The top layer is real wood. If you want a wood flooring look in a bathroom, engineered wood is the best choice.

Laminate flooring ideas

Laminate flooring is a better bathroom flooring choice than solid hardwood. Because laminate flooring is no more than resin-impregnated paper atop a wood chip base. The surface of laminate plank is actually a photograph simulating: oak, cherry, slate, marble. The top layer is a clear layer of strong melamine. Some laminate flooring is guaranteed for 30 years. Because the seams are glued together, it's difficult for moisture to work its way downward. Laminate is easy to clean. If the chip base does get wet the flooring may have to be replaced.

Laminate Flooring Ideas for Bathrooms

Oak is the most popular style of wood or wood-look laminate flooring.
Pine is also great for bathrooms reflecting light better and looking cleaner.
Tuscan Stone. Laminate flooring doesn't have to look like wood. Travertine is a lighter colored stone that will brighten up the bathroom. Slate. This light-colored slate feels like real stone; it is laminate and warmer on the feet.
